RUNNING A SMALL COMPANY FULL OF MOXIE.

HI, I'M MARGIE*!
(*Pronounced MarGHEE like ghee the clarified butter, or a margherita pizza, or a margarita cocktail. Pick your vice for easy recall.)
What am I all about? I started in the event industry doing the old 9-5pm thing (or rather in events, way earlier than 9am to way later than 5pm) – then things got personal when I planned my own wedding. And it was a total “ah-ha!” moment. It was like all the professional work I had accomplished up to that point came together to show me that I had the heart of a wedding planner. My obsession with details, communication with vendors, dreaming up the perfect space and layout to represent US, and creating the perfect guest experience. It was a THRILL, a ride I totally was onboard – stressful at times but totally exhilarating.
What about before this “ah-ha” moment? Well, I graduated from McGill University in Montreal, moved to Washington, DC with the world’s-best-friends for a few years where I worked in a high-paced Press Office on Capitol Hill and then with Major League Baseball. I came back to my home state of Maine and stuck around. Perhaps that had to do with meeting my studly husband. But it didn’t hurt that Maine was set away from it all, while still remaining a relevant community in art, food, beverages, and music. I gained valuable experience in the world of event planning in experiential marketing and with an environmental nonprofit. I got engaged - I started planning a wedding for the first time. That’s what really kickstarted the wedding planning passion – a event that was truly personal. Following this joyous realization I was swooped under the wing of some of the best wedding professionals in the state where I gained invaluable experience from their wise ways and savvy business tactics. Learn more about all that good stuff here because my experience will give you a sigh of relief.
A little of the personal stuff - I’m married to a smoking hot marine engineer, Matt, and we live in South Portland with our nearly four-year-old, Poppy. When I’m not in a whirlwind of running a small business and chasing after my daughter, I can often be found chillin (literally) at Sugarloaf Mountain on my snowboard. Also seen at Bayside Bowl throwing pins and crunching tater tots. There’s a good chance you’ll find me at one of Portland’s zillion incredible restaurants any day, too.
